Identity is a Galaxy

Welcome to Linda K. Reeves Therapy.

Despite the advancements in societal acceptance, the highly personal nature of gender identity and sexuality still tend to be broadly misunderstood, and for many individuals painfully experienced. Linda K. Reeves Therapy was created to support LGBTQ-identified individuals and the people who love them. Here you will find a safe and secure space to pour out the contents of your heart and explore how to travel your distinctly unique journey.

Our Approach.

Moving through pain and forging a more comfortable path forward can feel like an overwhelming challenge without a trusted other to share the journey, especially during difficult passages and life transitions. I work with individuals, couples, parents, partners, families, and adolescents who want to feel better and live more authentically.

We will work to establish a safe environment and we will build a trusting relationship that will enable you to deeply understand yourself. In our sessions we will identify ways your life experiences continue to influence your behaviors, choices, and mind-set. We will creatively find ways for you to safely grieve the past to live more fully in the present. I'll help you discover your unique strengths and resiliency so that you can navigate life's challenges and move toward your dreams.

Becoming You.

For clients in transition, we will identify the ways you are resilient and bolster those strengths as you determine the right time to share the intimate details about yourself with your family, friends, co-workers, and others.

Together we will discover those displaced or suppressed parts of yourself and bring them into the light so that your personhood and self-concept can include an integrated whole, reducing the anxiety and depression that have become second nature.

If you are interested in exploring medical interventions, I can provide referrals to healthcare providers, surgeons, and if necessary, I will write letters for you to receive medical services.

WORKING WITH FAMILY MEMBERS OF LGBTQ+ LOVED ONES.

Therapy helps all who are touched when a child, parent, or partner shares information about their sexual or gender identity that was previously unrecognized or hidden. Family members often feel overwhelmed with mixed emotions of confusion, fear, anger, and loss. The presence of a therapist who is trained in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy will provide a stabilizing and affirming environment for family members that are struggling to adapt to any type of gender identity, sexual orientation, or other lifestyle change.

If you are beating yourself up for not knowing sooner, wrestling with deeply held religious beliefs, are married to a non-supportive spouse, are struggling to accept your partner’s identity, or are grieving the loss of a child you thought you knew, I can help. My goal is to move you and your family toward a place of deeper understanding and love so that you can support your loved one as they let go of the secrets and fear, and step into honesty about who they truly are (gender identity) or who they feel attracted to (sexual orientation).

About Linda K. Reeves Therapy.

The vision for Linda K. Reeves Therapy came to life as I pursued my Masters program and learned about the ways our oppressive heteronormative / cisnormative culture impacts the self-esteem, agency and mental health of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, gender non-binary and queer identified people. As the proud mother of a gay son these dynamics were felt on a very personal level sparking a commitment within to find ways to lift up and affirm LGBTQ+ people and support their families in pushing back against culturally induced stigma and discrimination. My clients are my best teachers now as I journey with them toward self-actualization and find ways to transcend challenges that need not exist. My hope is that Linda K. Reeves Therapy can be a beacon for those in need.

We are based in Southern California & currently offer Tele-Therapy to clients based in the state of California.

The challenge is to be yourself in a world that is trying to make you like everyone else.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
